[1] Not organic, i.e., composed of matter other than animal or vegetable. In technical terms, any substance that is not a carbon compound (with the possible exception of the oxides and sulphide of carbon)
[2] Pertaining to or composed of chemical compounds which do not contain carbon as the principal element, i.e., matter which does not come from plants or animals. The opposite is organic
